Since 200 channels are available, depending on the location, Cornerstone SMR has approximately 10 to 15 percent of the total channel capacity of the 220 band as permitted by the FCC. The population covered by these new licenses is approximately 140 million people (See map of coverage area). With this acquisition Cornerstone SMR has become a significant holder of spectrum assets.
Through strategic planning, site and equipment acquisition, Cornerstone already developed these licenses prior to acquisition by deploying equipment at sites already constructed in many major metropolitan areas. Several additional sites have been constructed to meet FCC regulatory requirements.
